  • 1/3 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by mixing diced apples, apple butter, granulated sugar, water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and fine sea salt in a bowl; set aside.
  2. Create the dough by mixing cornstarch dissolved in water with bread flour, sugar, instant yeast, salt, milk, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth; knead until elastic.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter over it and sprinkle with brown sugar mixed with cinnamon before adding the apple filling.
  4. Roll up the dough tightly and slice it into equal pieces; place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for around 30 minutes or until golden brown.
