- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream together unsalted butter and sugar in a stand mixer until fluffy. Add vanilla extract and salt, then gradually mix in all-purpose flour until a dough forms. Press evenly into the baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine sliced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
- For the crumble topping, mix flour and brown sugar; cut in melted or room temperature butter until crumbly.
- Increase oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Sprinkle half the crumble over the baked crust, layer on the apples evenly, then top with remaining crumble.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
