- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Allow the chicken breasts to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes; season with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C). Remove from skillet and cover loosely.
- In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds. Add heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in chopped basil, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and Italian seasoning; simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet; spoon sauce over it and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes before serving.
