- 390 g all-purpose flour
- 320 g dark brown sugar

- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cloves
- 140 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 100 g neutral oil
- 283 g whole milk (room temperature)
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 227 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 12 oz cream cheese (cold)
- 340 g powdered sugar (sifted)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased and lined 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices.
- In another bowl, blend room temperature butter and oil before adding milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just mixed.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes for 10 minutes in pans before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat cold cream cheese and room temperature butter until creamy; gradually add sifted powdered sugar.
- Assemble by layering with frosting in between and covering the top and sides.
