Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper, greasing it with nonstick spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Mix in melted butter and applesauce (or oil) until combined.
- Stir in light brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 50 minutes to 1 hour and check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
