  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix light brown sugar and ground cinnamon; set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together white sugar and softened butter until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture while alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Layer with half of the chopped apples and half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture; repeat layers.
  6. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For an optional glaze, whisk powdered sugar with milk until smooth and drizzle over cooled bread.
