Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by measuring all ingredients and ensuring your tools are ready.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine granulated sugar, butter, salt, and water. Stir continuously over medium heat until boiling.
- Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature, stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Quickly pour the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading evenly.
- Once cooled, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top, let them melt slightly, then spread evenly and garnish with additional chopped pecans.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
