  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup eggnog
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter for frosting
  • 34 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg for frosting
  • 1/2 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract for frosting
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt for frosting
  • 35 tablespoons eggnog for frosting
  • 12 tablespoons cornstarch (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy.
  4. Add egg yolks, vanilla extracts, and eggnog; mix well.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just mixed.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto lined baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Cool on wire racks before frosting.
  8. For the frosting, beat butter with powdered sugar, nutmeg, vanilla extract, salt, and eggnog to desired consistency. Frost cooled cookies generously.
