Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- ¾ teaspoon ground cloves
- Icing and sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, beat butter and sugars until fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and spices.
- Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture on low speed until just mixed.
- Chill the dough for at least 2 hours after rolling out to desired thickness.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake cookie shapes for 10-12 minutes until edges darken.
- Cool completely before decorating.
