Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine Maseca masa harina and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water and mix by hand until you achieve a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and cover them with a damp towel.
- Heat a comal or skillet over medium heat. Roll each dough portion into a ball, then flatten it between two plastic sheets using a heavy dish or tortilla press to form thick tortillas (approximately 4.5 inches in diameter).
- Cook each gordita on the heated skillet for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown, then create slits on the sides for easy stuffing.
