Ingredients
- 2 cups apples (cored, peeled, and chopped)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare the apple filling by combining chopped apples, brown sugar, butter, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until softened. Let cool.
- In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in cold butter until crumbly. Reserve one cup for topping.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Press the oat mixture into a greased baking pan as the base. Spread cooled apple filling on top and sprinkle reserved oat mixture.
- Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
