  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 8 ounces Semisweet or Bittersweet Chocolate
  • 4 ounces Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 4 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together.
  3. In another bowl, cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by buttermilk and hot coffee.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the pudding filling, heat sugar, cornstarch, salt, and water in a saucepan until thickened; stir in melted chocolates.
  7. To make frosting, whip heavy cream to soft peaks and combine with melted unsweetened chocolate and confectioners' sugar.
