Instructions
- In a medium-sized heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat 2-3 cups of whole milk and ½ cup of heavy cream over medium heat until steaming (do not boil).
- In a small bowl, whisk together ½ cup cocoa powder and 1-2 tablespoons grated chocolate. Gradually mix in about ½ cup of hot milk until smooth.
- Pour the chocolate mixture back into the saucepan while whisking continuously. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
- Serve hot in mugs with optional toppings like whipped cream, ground cinnamon, or chocolate shavings.
