  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Serves about 12 brownies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest (23 lemons)
  • ⅓ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually mix in the sugar mixture until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture using a rubber spatula until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth it evenly. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While cooling, whisk together powdered sugar, fresh lemon juice, and lemon zest for the glaze.
  8. Once cooled, pour the glaze over the brownies in the pan and let it set before cutting into squares.
