Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter
- 1 cup chopped strawberries
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tbsp milk (+ 1/2 tbsp if needed)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vanilla extract, and egg; add to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in chopped strawberries.
- 5. Turn dough onto a floured surface; shape it into an 8-inch circle and wrap it in plastic wrap. Freeze for 30 minutes.
- 6. After chilling, cut into triangles and place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with milk.
- 7. Bake for 13–15 minutes until golden brown.
- 8. Allow to cool on a wire rack before glazing.
